CalciTech presently operates a pilot scale SCC plant in the town of Leuna, Germany and has plans to construct a 100,000 metric ton per year commercial plant at an adjacent industrial site. Carbon dioxide for these operations originates from a nearby oil refinery; while the calcium raw material source comes from a huge landfill of carbide lime located in the nearby town of Schkopau, Germany or from commercially available burnt lime.
